Missile Baits is dropping a new bait called the Bomba 3.5 and is adding to their offerings for the Spunk Shad. The Bomba 3.5 is a is a finesse, thick, craw body worm that casts and skips like a rocket. Think combination of a Ned Rig and Senko.
Best Bait for Catching Bass
Asking what bait is best for catching bass might sound like a ridiculous question but there really is a solid answer. Soft plastic baits. Ok, so that is not a super specific answer but the category of baits that is the most effective for catching bass is definitely soft plastics.
Big Bait Trend
Two trends have emerged over the past couple years on the bass fishing scene. The first one is more obvious. Forward facing sonar has changed a lot in bass fishing recently but we are going to stay away from that one here. The other is a trend of more and more anglers fishing with big baits.
Fishing Versatility Balance
It’s great to have a dozen rods with different baits on the deck of your boat. Actually, it looks pretty cool. The thing is, though, it doesn’t always help us catch bass. That many combinations will only work if we know how and when to use them. Most of us would be better off with three or four combinations that will catch bass under a wide array of conditions, and that we really know how to use.
Tackle Time
In a few days Christmas will be behind us. Then comes the long wait for spring. That’s a tough time, but you can shorten it by tinkering with your tackle and, at the same time, make next year’s fishing more efficient.

Stop number two of the Bassmaster Central Opens on Lewis Smith Lake proved to be an extremely challenging tournament. With water levels dropping throughout practice, it made finding a consistent pattern very difficult.
Jig Bites with Kyle Patrick
Stop number 3 of the Bassmaster Central opens on Grand Lake set up perfectly for me. The fall transition was happening as we arrived, and the jig bite was on! My strength is catching fish on a jig. It doesn’t matter if it’s in grass, on rock, deep, shallow, or anywhere in between – I have confidence that it will produce big fish.
BEST BAIT BETS IN OCTOBER
The month of October can be a tough bass fishing time period. The fall often means the bass are in transition from their deep water or summertime haunts to their fall feeding patterns. Well, they should be in their feeding patterns by October, right?
Fall Fishing Strategies
In the south and middle part of the country, the air temperatures are starting to drop with the beginning of fall and the bass are changing. In many of our beloved bass lakes, the late summer timeframe can be one of the toughest times of the year to catch fish.

It has taken me a full season on the Elite Series to evaluate and learn about all the available electronics on one boat. That is right. I ran Lowrance, Humminbird, and Garmin on my Bass Cat in 2021.
